Marriott International in the Maldives celebrated the graduation of 40 apprentices from the Class of 2026 of the Marriott International Maldives Apprenticeship Program (MIMAP), developed in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness and the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT). The ceremony was attended by Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Tholal and representatives from both partner organizations.
The graduation marks the successful completion of the program’s third cohort and reflects Marriott International’s ongoing commitment to developing local talent and creating career opportunities for Maldivians in the hospitality industry. Graduates completed training across five disciplines: Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage Service, Culinary, and Electrical Installation & Maintenance, combining classroom learning with practical on-the-job experience.
Since its launch in 2023, MIMAP has received more than 500 applications and engaged 171 apprentices, including 73 in the latest intake. To date, 74 graduates have successfully completed the program and pursued careers in hospitality and related sectors. The program continues to support workforce development in the Maldives while helping build a sustainable pipeline of skilled hospitality professionals for the future.
