This quarter, Coastal Assembly returned to the Maldives to advance our work in beach restoration and coastal resilience.
At JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, we continued monitoring 54 submerged reef structures designed to work with the island’s waves, currents and sediment. The project produced approximately 90 feet of new beach in six months, without pumping or importing sand, with satellite monitoring showing the beach has doubled in size over two years.
At Soneva Fushi, we tested new reef units designed for coral outplanting, exploring how coastal infrastructure can help grow beaches while supporting thriving reef communities.
Our Coastal Intelligence Platform uses over a decade of historical data to analyze shoreline change and inform where and how we intervene. Today, we have 800+ sites in our global pipeline, with 112 under active intelligence monitoring, including 25 across the Maldives.
If your property needs coastal protection or is experiencing erosion and looking for a nature-positive alternative to repeated sand pumping and hard infrastructure, get in touch. We’d love to analyze your coastline and explore what could be possible at your property.
